View, Delft, Netherlands
This is a painting of a view of buildings in Delft, Netherlands as seen across the Kolk harbour in the south end of the city. This vantage is understood to be the same one painted by Johannes Vermeer in 1661 in his famous View of Delft. Although much has changed, the general curve of the canal and the bell tower of the Nieuwe Kerk remain in today's view.
We visited Delft in 2019 and found it to be a quiet town with a timeless historic feel, at least in early June.
