This is a painting of the courtyard of a traditional carmen house in in the Albaicín district of Granada, Spain. This particular carmen has been converted into a very nice hotel complex, and we stayed in one of the apartments when we visited Granada in 2017.

The conversion of the building heavily modernized the interior, but the exterior, including the evocative inner courtyard, maintains the original style and character of the Albaicín. It's a fascinating district to explore, with a historic maze of hilly alleys and staircases hiding views of the Alhambra around every corner.
