My name is Gary Smith. I live with my wife Josie in beautiful downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On this blog you’ll find images of acrylic paintings I’ve completed over the past year or so, all based on photos I’ve taken within walking distance of our St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood. I’m a web developer by profession and I paint only in my spare time, which is not always as plentiful as I would like. However I do try to post one or two paintings per month once in a blue moon.
I enjoy capturing the scenes that make my neighbourhood unique and livable. While this includes some obvious historic buildings and tourist attractions, I also try to highlight some of the small, commonplace details we often don’t even notice. Window frames, smokestacks, restaurant signs and transit vehicles can suddenly look a lot more interesting when they are pulled out of their usual contexts and put onto canvas.

After selecting a print you may choose from various prices, sizes and framing options at the bottom right. Please note that any purchases through this service are handled directly by DeviantArt and as a result I cannot directly control the quality of the prints, nor can I resolve shipping problems, negotiate refunds, etc. If you have a particularly great (or terrible) experience with this service please let me know!
